HERO Docs refers to 'content' rather than 'documents', why?
Easy read has traditionally been provided in Word Doc or PDF format which means it has generally been a stand alone information provision hyperlinked to the bottom of a page and not part of the mainstream offering.
Word and PDF formats are difficult to read on mobile devices and prevent other useful web-based technologies such as Word-Bank from being used.
HERO Docs aims to modernise NHS document based easy read culture by:
  • Giving patients and clinicians choice over which format they prefer
  • Increasing availability of health information, e.g. via personal smart phones
  • Providing electronic versions of documents for easier distribution
For these reason's HERO Docs refers to easy read content as ‘content’, you chose which format you want your easy read to be viewed.
